1500 Feet Down
1500 Feet Down
Angels Landing in Zion National Park is an amazing 5 mile RT hike up from the valley floor midway down the canyon. Along the way up, there's a super-cool switchback and areas where the rock was cut away to make a path. After Scout Lookout, it gets hairy. There are severe sheer drop-offs, some 1000-1500 straight down which, in a few sections of path, are found on both sides of the path! Luckily, there are chains bolted in those areas.
Of course, I lugged up my dSLR and heavy lenses. At the top, I laid out flat at the edge and shot a panoramic looking North up the canyon towards the famous Narrows. It might not seem at first, but the bottom of the photo is a quarter mile straight down to the river. Tons of detail in this very large resolution image and it shines on metallic paper behind the acrylic. Make sure you have nice track lights installed for this one!
