Volcanic Mount Baker Towering Over the Dungeness Spit Lighthouse
The Dungeness Spit is an oddity that everyone should experience. I've been here a half-dozen times over the years and even lived nearby in the 6th grade. Yet, I've never completed the 10-mile hike out to the lighthouse until now. And, it couldn't have been a better day with mile mid-60's temperatures, a light breeze, and low tide to enable passage across a small area of land near the the lighthouse which can be submerged during higher tides.
This photograph was taken near the start of the hike using a 600mm lens on my Nikon D750 which magnifies the background significantly when the subject is closer to the camera. The lighthouse is about 4 miles out as the crow flies but the volcano is 70 miles behind.
