Amtrak's Empire Builder Heading East over Cascade Mountains

Amtrak's Empire Builder Heading East over Cascade Mountains

This photo was taken in a hidden place that says Gaynor trackside but I'm not certain it's a real town (anymore?). Access is down a rough, dirt road off Highway 2. I hiked in a bit further from the trackside parking area just east of the trestle and waited to see if a train would pass over.

In the distance, we could hear a train approach as it came up the Cascades through the long tunnel and, as it crossed the trestle, I started taking a zoomed in photo of the train then completed the panoramic grid as the train passed so that I could stitch it all together into a massive scene.

The Prints

The TruView TruLife print is truely the top of the top when it comes to wall prints. The surface is scratch-resistant, static-free, and reflection-reducing. This glass protects the archive-quality print below and lets it shine through. The print mounts to the wall using an aluminum sub-frame that floats the surface 3/4" off the wall for prentation depth.

These rigid glossy prints are factory-coated with a white base layer. The photograph is first printed with inks then layed over the metal print and pressed together at high temperature. When the ink heats up, it becomes a gas and transfers off the paper and into the surface of the metal print giving it weather resistance and longevity.
